    Terms of Service

    Last updated 28 October 2026

    The short version

Learn from our content and use the code samples in your own projects, but don't copy, share or resell our courses and products. Payments go through Gumroad. Builder Pipeline products are for evaluation during your trial, and owning one is agreed separately in writing. Be fair to us and to other learners, and we'll do the same.

    1. Who we are

These terms are an agreement between you and Mobterest Studio Ltd, a company registered in Kenya ("Mobterest Studio", "we", "us"). They cover mobterest.studio, Engineering Residency (er.mobterest.studio), the Builder Pipeline (pipeline.mobterest.studio), our waitlists, digital products, calls and other services. By using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

Some services have extra terms, such as a proposal or contract for client work, or a licence agreement for a Builder Pipeline product. If those conflict with these terms, the extra terms win for that service.

    2. Using our services

    • You must be at least 18, or use our services with the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you.
    • You agree to follow these terms and the laws that apply to you.
    • Information you give us, such as your email address, must be accurate and yours.

    3. Engineering Residency accounts

    • You sign in with Google or GitHub. Signing in with either using the same email address gives you the same account.
    • Keep your Google or GitHub account secure: anyone who can sign in to it can sign in to your Residency account. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
    • One person per account. Accounts and their access can't be shared, sold or transferred.

    4. Purchases and payments

    • Payments are handled by Gumroad. When you buy a course, bundle, the Membership, a digital product or a call, you check out on Gumroad, and Gumroad's own terms also apply to that payment. We never see or store your card details.
    • License keys. A Residency purchase comes with a license key that you redeem to unlock what you bought. A key is for one account. Sharing, publishing or reselling keys isn't allowed, and we may remove access unlocked with a shared key.
    • Courses and bundles you buy are yours to access for as long as Engineering Residency operates, even if we later stop selling them.
    • The Membership is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly by Gumroad until you cancel. While it's active, you can access every course marked as included in it. When it ends, that access ends, but anything you bought separately stays yours. You can cancel at any time from your Gumroad library and keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
    • Free content. Some lessons, courses and resources are free. They're covered by these terms too.
    • Prices are shown in the currency listed and may change, but a change never affects a purchase you've already made.

    5. Refunds

    • Unless a product page says otherwise, sales of digital products, courses and bundles are final, because access is given straight away.
    • Membership payments aren't refunded for part of a period, but you can cancel at any time to stop the next one.
    • Refunds for client work follow the proposal or contract for that work.
    • If something you bought doesn't work as described, email us and we'll put it right or refund you.

When a purchase is refunded, the access it unlocked is removed. Where consumer law in your country gives you rights we haven't described here, those rights still apply.

    6. Builder Pipeline trials

    • Builder Pipeline products are apps we've built and run. When you request access, we may give you a trial, usually for one week, so you can try the product as if it were your own.
    • A trial is for evaluation only. Please use test data rather than real customer or payment data, and don't use the trial to run your live business.
    • A trial doesn't give you any ownership of, or licence to, the product, its code or its design. Taking a product on under your brand is agreed separately, in writing, and that agreement sets out what you get and what you pay.
    • We may end a trial early if it's misused, and we may change or withdraw products from the Builder Pipeline at any time.

    7. Calls and client work

Calls, such as Get Unstuck sessions, are booked and paid for on Gumroad. Larger projects, consulting and design or development work follow a proposal or contract we agree with you, which sets out the scope, price, timeline and ownership of the work.

    8. Our content

Our courses, lessons, videos, articles, designs, templates, products and branding belong to Mobterest Studio or the people we license them from. Using or buying them gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning or work. You may not:

    • download, record, copy, share or republish our videos, lessons or paid content;
    • resell our content or templates, or use them to teach a course of your own;
    • remove our branding, or present our work as your own;
    • get around how access is checked, or scrape our sites.

Code samples in lessons and tutorials are there to be used: you're welcome to use them in your own apps and projects, including commercial ones.

    9. Capstones and points

    • Your work stays yours. When you submit a capstone, you give us permission to view and run your repository and any demo you link so we can review it. We won't publish or showcase your project without asking you first.
    • Only submit work you have the right to share, and keep secrets such as API keys and passwords out of repositories you submit.
    • Reviews are educational feedback against the course's rubric. Passing a capstone isn't a professional certification.
    • Points measure your progress. They have no cash value and can't be exchanged, sold or transferred.

    10. Educational content

Our tutorials, courses, guides, articles and calls are meant to teach and inform, not to guarantee results. You're responsible for how you use what you learn, and nothing we provide guarantees a job, a business outcome or a particular technical result.

    11. Acceptable use

Don't use our services to break the law, mislead or harm others, or try to break or overload them, for example by probing for security holes, automating sign-ups or interfering with other people's accounts. If you find a security problem, please tell us privately at mobterest@gmail.com.

    12. Other services we use

Parts of our services are provided by other companies, including Google and GitHub for sign-in, Gumroad for payments, YouTube for video, and DartPad for the in-browser code editor. Their own terms apply to your use of their services. Our Privacy Policy explains what they receive.

    13. Changes to our services

We keep improving what we make, so lessons, products and pages may be updated, reordered or replaced. We may stop selling a course, but if you bought it, you keep access to it. If we ever have to close Engineering Residency, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice by email.

    14. Ending your access

    • You can stop using our services at any time. Residency learners can delete their account in Settings → Account & security. Cancel an active Membership on Gumroad first so you aren't billed again. Deleting your account permanently removes your progress, points, bookmarks, submissions and access to everything you've unlocked.
    • We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, for example by sharing license keys or redistributing our content. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right.

    15. Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep our services accurate and available, but they're provided "as is". We can't promise they'll always be error-free or uninterrupted, or that they suit your particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or business, or for disruptions caused by third-party services, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

    16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and disputes go to the courts of Kenya, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.

    17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time, and the latest version will always be on this page. If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date at the top and tell you by email or with a notice on our sites before it takes effect. Continuing to use our services after that means you accept the updated terms.
